Background

In 2020, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developed the Phish Scale to help organisations train their employees to identify phishing emails by understanding the specific cues and context that may be subject to.

In 2023, NIST developed a user guide to help organisations apply the phish scale to their phishing simulation programs.

The Phish Scale Detection Difficulty Score is based on the assessment of two categories. Firstly, the amount of cues the email has for the recipient to identify and, secondly, the context the email has to its audience. This may include how similar it is to organisational processes and communication.

Inspire Cyber is a firm dedicated to cybersecurity education and understands the challenges facing organisations in designing and implementing an effective phishing simulation program that achieves results and aligns to organisation values and stakeholder interests.

Inspire Cyber aligns itself with many of the NIST publications and therefore brings this automation tool to you for FREE to help your organisation regulate its difficulty scoring to achieve a consistent program.
